Nano - A "Weigh" Better Alternative

Lead aprons are a necessary protective element in the defense against radiation exposure during medical fluoroscopic procedures. Many medical personnel wear radiation protective garments for hours every day and those garments are HEAVY. It's no secret that heavy lead aprons can adversely affect your musculoskeletal health over a long period of time (and sometimes even in the short term). There are other options which do not include aprons, but they carry massive price tags and are not a rational solution to cure the apron weight problem.

Fortunately, the weight is over! Protech’s Nano core material is made of a proprietary blend of x-ray protective metals and rare earth elements that deliver optimal kV protection at a fraction of the weight of traditional lead aprons. Nano is the lightest material available on the market, designed exclusively to reduce the weight of your apron and prolong musculoskeletal health.

Environmental Innovation

The radiation safety industry has a heavy reliance on known toxic substances. Protech’s innovative, lead-free core materials use minimal to no antimony in achieving its overall protection mission. Antimony’s place is taken by other, safer alternatives such as Cerium and Rare Earth Oxides as well as Bismuth, Tungsten, and Barium. Using a combination of elements is critical in providing balanced protection across a wide range of diagnostic imaging kV ranges.

Weighing in at 33% lighter than lead, Nano is takes the stage as our lightest core material. Made from Cerium, Antimony and rare earths, Nano is highly flexible and is a fantastic option for those needing a ultra lightweight option. It is certified to ASTM testing standards.

It is environmentally safe and can be disposed of through normal waste procedures and is ideal for long procedures.

    A high quality, durable apron fabric that is fluid and tear resistant. The nylon colors also serve as options for the apron binding.

    Ripstop
    A high quality, durable apron fabric that is fluid and tear resistant. Ripstop incorporates high tensile strength interwoven fibers that are ultra resistant to tearing.

    Classic Prints
    A fluid resistant polyester and nylon blend finished with custom print designs. Classic designs require no upcharge!

    Wipe-Away Vinyls
    Extremely easy to clean, vinyls are a great choice for table drapes.

    Satinguard Anti-Microbial Fabrics
    Featuring stain resistant and anti-microbial technology. Our Satinguard poly material will resist a wide variety of bacteria for several years.

    Coolguard Performance Fabrics
    1. Black Silk - Ultra-soft & breathable polyester that is fluid proof & stain resistant.
    2. Indigo - A soft, PVC nylon that is fluid-proof, stain resistant, bacteria & fungus resistant. Our lightest-weight fabric!
    3. Coolguard Mesh - Increases air flow on back closure of apron. For frontal apron back closures only.
    4. Coolguard Spandex - Sweat wicking, breathable microfiber with quick dry technology.
    5. Coolguard Air - Enables natural air ventilation with air-flow technology. Interior only.
    6. Anti-slip Fabric - A high-quality, textured fabric placed on the inside of your apron to prevent slippage.
